Join or Die

Today we analyzed Ben Franklin's "Join or Die" cartoon from an issue of the Pennsylvania Gazette in 1754.  The image itself was a metaphor for the necessity of the 13 Colonies to come together in times of conflict.  At the time it was an attempt to join in the fight against the French.  By 1765, however, it became a rallying cry for the Sons of Liberty and other revolutionaries wanting to break away from English rule.

You were given the task of creating a political cartoon or a recruiting poster for the Sons of Liberty.  You needed to create an image or symbol that could be used as a metaphor for the message "Join or Die."  This is due on Monday.

Have a great weekend!
